Obama cannot blame Bush any longer!

In this Wallstreet Journal article you will see that President Obama had the chance to take action but chose not to. President Bush cannot be blamed for your choice not to act.

So President Obama you were right in saying that the blame is on you. You need to tell others in your administration this, like David Axelrod who loves to put all the blame on the Bush Administration.

Unemployment numbers go down

I am glad that the unemployment numbers dropped to 9.5%. Although that is not a big drop, it was 9.7%, it shows continued improvement.

This is good in light of the Census workers who lost thier jobs. This could be because of workers that are hired during the Summer months for camps. I almost doubled the number of employees that we have for our Summer Day Camp program.

let's hope this is the beginning of a turn around in our economy. President Obama said this morning that "it is not happening fast enough for the American people."

Holder Should be fired!

A hearing is looking into the voter intimidation claim against the New Black Panter Party during the 2008 election and Eric Holder's decision to drop the charges against all but one of the individuals. I think Eric Holder should be fired for letting the New Black Panthers walk with nothing more then an injuction agaist the one carrying the nightstick at the polling place. This was clearly voter intimidation of the worst kind.

Holder states that there was not enough evidence. They are on camera, you don't need anymore evidence than that! It is this kind of non-transparency and non-action that causes me to lose trust in this Administration. Holder should lose his job!

Thank you Judge Martin Feldman

Judge Feldman will help a lot of people get back to work. I do not think it would be a wise choice on the part of the Obama Administration to keep on fighting this. Out of all the rigs that are out there this is the only accident that has happened.

I think the Administration should make sure the other wells are safe but it is not right to put a lot of people out of work because of one company who did not have safety standards that would make sure no one got hurt and this disaster would not happen.

If Obama wants people working he should let the oil rigs start up again. It is a win win situation.

Amending the Consitution

As it becomes more and more clear that we can not depend on Congress to do their job we as citizens need to take matters in our hands. A balanced budge amendment would go a long way to bringing the U.S. back to sanity in its financial dealings.

Article V of the Constitution outlines how to amend (modify) the document. It consists of two steps: proposal and ratification.

1. Propose An Amendment
Either Congress or the States can propose an amendment ot the Constitution.
•Both Houses of Congress must propose the amendment with a two-thirds vote. This is how all current amendments have been offered.
•Two-thirds of the State legislatures must call on Congress to hold a Constitutional Convention.

2. Ratify An Admendment
Regardless of how the amendment is proposed, it must be ratified by the States.
•Three-fourths of the State legislatures must approve of the amendment proposed by Congress, or
•Three-fourths of the states must approve the amendment via ratifying conventions. This method has only been used once, to repeal Prohibition (21st Amendment).

Is there a timeline for ratification? The US Supreme Court has held that ratification must happen within "some reasonable time after the proposal." Since the 18th Amendment, Congress has set a term of seven years for ratification.

Is it easy to amend the Consitution? No and it shouldn't be but its not impossible either.

Oil Money/The President and Tony Hayward

First of all the Democrats who call the GOP the party of big oil need to look at their own party, I did! According to priceofoil.org Blanche Lincoln (D) has received $216,700.dollars, more then any other in Congress.

Tony Hayward should not have gone to England to see his son in a yatch race but, Rahm Emanuel you should look at where your boss was when you criticized Mr. Hayward, on the golf course! It appears he goes there quite often! Again let's stop blaming others and fix the problem, it has been 62 days now with no end in sight.

Rep. Joe Barton Apologizes To BP For $20 Billion Claims Fund

"I'm ashamed of what happened in the White House yesterday," Barton said. "I think it is a tragedy of the first proportion that a private corporation can be subjected to what I would characterize as a shakedown, in this case, a $20 billion shakedown."

He complained that "the attorney general of the United States, who is legitimately conducting a criminal investigation and has every right to do so to protect the interests of the American people, [is] participating in what amounts to a $20 billion slush fund that's unprecedented in our nation's history, that's got no legal standing, and which sets, I think, a terrible precedent for the future."

"I apologize," Barton told Hayward. "I do not want to live in a country where any time a citizen or a corporation does something that is legitimately wrong is subject to some sort of political pressure that is -- again, in my words, amounts to a shakedown. So I apologize."

"I'm speaking now totally for myself," he noted. "I'm not speaking for the Republican Party." House Republican Leader John Boehner (R-OH) later said he disagreed with Barton's characterization, and GOP leaders put out a statement calling his comments "wrong."

Steny Hoyer has got it wrong

Steny Hoyer is taking part in the Democrate's favorite pastime, Bush-bashing. Steny Hoyer needs to understand that if he is going to blame the Bush administration for regulation of the oil industry then I need to ask why the Obama administration did not fix the problems during the 15 months they were in the Whitehouse. Remember Mr. Hoyer who was in the Whitehouse when the disaster happened. Stop blaming Bush and just fix the problem.

This is the way I see it!

Mr. President I am glad that the unemployment numbers dropped to 9.7% but, you promised "bipartisanship and complete transparancy" in your Administration. I have not seen this lately. I was glad when you brought in the top ranking Republican to talk about your pick for the Supreme Court and, you did convene a group from both sides of Congress on Healthcare but, trying to influence members like Joe Sestak and Andrew Romanoff to drop out of the race is not in keeping with the "CHANGE" you promised. This looks more like old style Chicago politics. I know it has been done before in other Administrations but, you told us you would be different. Please try to lead your administration in the way that you said you would. The Country will be better for it. That is the way I see it!

Nancy Pelosi needs to get her facts straight

These are the things that get my blood boiling! First Nancy Pelosi can't remember that she was in a meeting or not, now she is blaming Bush for something that he is not guilty of. Liz Birnbaum the now former director of the Minerals Management Sevices did not begin her time with the White house during the Bush years. If you look back she started in the Department of the Interior in 1987. She was counsel to the House Committee on Natural Resources during the Clinton years. Most importantly she was appointed to the MMS Director under Obama's watch in 2009.

I am sure there is enough blame to go around. I am sure the Bush administration should have done more as far as oversight, but let's remember that this spill occurred 15 months into the present administration. Who should have been overseeing this now? Stop the Bush bashing, it is getting old!
